Metamorfose is a manifesto, a controversial piece that generates discussion and promotes reflection among citizens.
The space for intervention is an urban void from the years 40/60, a result of the disembowelment of the old quarter in the historic center of Porto for the creation of Bridge Avenue, the direct road link to the Dom Luis I bridge. For more than a half of a century this scenario has been the same despite the numerous proposals for the redevelopment of this open wound. However, it is assumed until the present days as a natural result of urban development.
Therefore, FAHR proposes to highlight this “forgotten” space through a temporary and provocative installation, with a dynamic and unexpected approach. To fill the urban void, a digital grid was developed, “closing” and controlling the ruin, as an extension of the rugged granite scarp. An approach that aims to attract people for the empty spaces of the city
without consuming or omitting them.
METAMORFOSE is the result of the antitheses analog / digital, natural / artificial, full / empty and indoor / outdoor concepts that FAHR 021.3 aims to explore.
