Aparelhos de Alumínio

Motivated by the current and emerging concern with the reuse of materials wasted by industrial processes, we propose a line of modular furniture built using leftover aluminium profiles.

At the studio, we try to impose originality directly on the practical result of an industrial process, allowing for unique pieces on the one hand and flexibility and adaptability of use for each piece on the other.

The idea emerged as a process that would allow any leftover profile piece in the recycling bins to be used immediately and with minimal transformation resources, in just two steps. Firstly, the piece takes on a columnar structural body made from the agglomeration of the collected elements, which is always variable and unique. Subsequently, in response to the flexibility imposed by the need to generate different uses and layouts, tops made from the same hexagonal geometry finish off each piece. Ergonomic and colour accents are then added to each piece, resulting in an authentic line of furniture.
