Drawing on FAHR 021.3’s working archive, Blatt - Morphologies of Disorder offers a reflection on the processes, references and methodologies that have shaped the studio’s practice over the past decade. More than a retrospective, the book seeks to reveal what remains open: process, deviation, overlap, transformation, and the tensions between form, context and critical thinking.

"I could begin with the significance this book may – or may not – hold at this particular moment in the FAHR 021.3 studio, perhaps as a moment of resolution. While, on the one hand, the book might be understood as the result of a retrospective impulse, and I acknowledge that such a dialogue did exist, on the other hand, it seems above all to mark a turning point in how we understand the place from which we operate.

The critical and process-driven discipline shaped within the architectural milieu, certainly echoed across many other artistic practices, reveals itself, in some measure, as being at

odds with this notion of freedom inherent in the immanence of an undisciplined gesture. What kind of freedom is this, in the production of space, that remains today inevitably conditioned by notions of control and authorship?

It was from this disciplinary indeterminacy, and from a certain false sense of freedom, that this book first took shape. How might one recover forgotten situations and works developed under plausible constraints, restoring to them a renewed potential for openness?

Throughout the pages of the book, we encounter a layering of events, positioned in a decontextualised and non-linear manner, a kind of mental map in continuous reconfiguration.

Amidst visual digressions, the book proposes to reclaim forms, voids, discontinuities, errors, or sites through a loss of autonomy.

The relationship established between words, notes, and images in this book, as in any ordinary situation, is ultimately determined by the condition of whoever holds it in their hands.
